Description:

- It is a single chip mixer with low distortion and wide dynamic range,which is suitable for applications such as RF-IF down-conversion in HF and VHF receivers, second mixer in DMR base stations, DC-to-baseband conversion, quadrature modulation and demodulation and Doppler shift detection in ultrasound imaging.

Features:
- The AD831 provides a +24dBm third-order intercept point and can achieve -10dBm LO power consumption without the need for high power consumption LO drivers and the associated shielding and isolation issues, resulting in improved performance compared to passive mixers system performance and also reduce the system cost.
- The mixer is designed to operate from a single supply, the RF, IF, and LO ports have DC blocking capacitors for easy use. The RF and LO inputs can operate up to 500MHz. The IF output is a single-ended voltage output with 250 MHz output bandwidth. A single resistor is connected between pins OUT and FB to set the gain. The amplifier's low DC offset characteristics allow it to be used in DC-coupled applications such as DC-baseband conversion and quadrature amplitude demodulation.
- With the mixer's output amplifier and optimal source impedance, the mixer's SSB noise figure is 10.3dB at 70 MHz. Unlike the passive mixers, AD831 has no insertion loss, no external duplexer and no passive termination.
