DI-100 Single Channel DI Box Unbalanced/Balanced Audio Signal Isolation Converter Guitar Conversion Box

Main Functions of Audio Signal Isolation Conversion Box:

- Convert unbalanced signals into balanced signals. To avoid the problem of interference noise that may occur due to excessively long signal lines in unbalanced transmission, balanced transmission is a widely used audio signal transmission method. It uses the principle of phase cancellation to minimize other interference during the audio signal transmission process. It requires three parallel wires to achieve this. Due to the close relative distance between the hot end signal line and the cold end signal line within the same shielding layer, other interference signals received during transmission are almost the same. However, the phase of the transmitted hot end signal and cold end signal is opposite, so subtracting the hot end signal from the cold end signal at the input of the next level device cancels out the same interference signal, and the transmitted signal is not lost due to the opposite phase. So in professional settings and when the transmission distance is relatively long, balanced transmission methods are usually used.

- Realize impedance matching between devices. If the output of an electric guitar belongs to high impedance and the MIC input of a mixing console belongs to low impedance, impedance mismatch will result in the loss of low-frequency signals, dynamic reduction, and distortion of sound quality. Therefore, a DI box is needed to solve the impedance matching problem between devices. In performance venues, there are often electroacoustic instruments such as electric guitars and basses, which output high impedance and high-level signals that are unbalanced. If the output of such instruments is directly connected to the LINE IN of the mixing console, when the connection line is longer than 10 meters, high impedance unbalanced transmission is easily affected by external electromagnetic interference and produces "sizzling" interference noise. And low impedance signals such as microphone signals, through balanced transmission, are less susceptible to interference even over long distances. So, at the performance venue, the high impedance unbalanced signal output by electric guitars and other electroacoustic instruments is input into the DI conversion box, which converts it into a low impedance signal. Through balanced transmission, this interference noise can be avoided.
