Franka GELLO is a low-cost, general-purpose teleoperation framework for robots. It uses a kinematically equivalent physical controller (with joints proportionally scaled to the target robot arm) to enable intuitive operation—no complex calculations are required. Controller joint angles can be directly mapped to mainstream robot arms such as Franka and UR5. Paired with servos (for Dynamixel) for haptic feedback and combined with 3D-printed open-source structures, it significantly reduces costs.

Franka GELLO efficiently collects high-quality demonstration data for bimanual coordination and contact-based tasks (e.g., precise assembly), providing a convenient tool for robot imitation learning. It is suitable for research, education, and industrial robot skill development, significantly lowering the learning threshold for complex tasks.
