The TPA3255 is a high-performance Class D power amplifier chip. It has a circuit with Class D efficiency and is capable of delivering truly high-end sound quality. It features an advanced integrated feedback design and proprietary high-speed gate driver error correction (Ultra HD for PurePath). This technology allows the component to maintain ultra-low distortion over the entire audio frequency band while exhibiting sound quality. Operating in AD mode, the chip drives up to two 315W/4R loads and two 150W (unclipped power)/8R loads at 1.5% THD, and features a 2 VRMS analog input interface that allows seamless interfacing with high-performance DACs such as the PCM5242 for TI.

In addition to excellent audio performance, the TPA3255 combines high power efficiency with ultra-low power stage idle loss (less than 2.5W). This can be achieved with 85mR MOSFETs and an optimized gate driver scheme. Compared to traditional discrete implementations, this scheme significantly reduces idle losses.
