Description:

TPS7A4701 and TPS7A3301 are high performance precision low noise linear regulators. They have high PSSR performance, wide voltage range input, and excellent chip voltage noise index, which makes the chips widely used in many high-performance occasions. Based on these two chips, our shop has developed a linear power supply module.

The module is small and easy to use. It can power audio decoder op amps, precision op amp circuits, and RF circuits.

Its reasonable layout and a large number of filter capacitors basically restore the original chip specifications, so this module can meet the power needs of student learning, competition and company and personal project development.

Precautions:
(1) The module does not have reverse connection and over-voltage protection, so please carefully check and compare the power supply before powering on, otherwise the module will be damaged.
(2) The heating of the linear power supply is mainly determined by the difference between the input and output voltages and the load current. Therefore, please select and use the power module reasonably, and generally need to reserve 30% of the margin.
(3) The module is a step-down module, and the input voltage needs to be more than 0.5V higher than the output to ensure stable output.
(4) When the load is large or the voltage difference is large, heat dissipation measures can be appropriately taken, otherwise the chip will start overheat protection or be damaged.
(5) It is recommended that the power supply voltage be less than ±16V. If the voltage is greater than 16V, it is recommended to add a certain power supply filter capacitor to the V+, V- and GND ports of the module. Generally, electrolytic capacitors are the main ones. It is recommended to use capacitors with a withstand voltage of 50V and a capacitance value of 220uF.
(6) The module can be used with a transformer and a rectifier filter module to form a precision power supply.

Q1. Can the module supply power to audio equipment?

Q2. Why can't the output voltage of the module be greater than the input voltage?
A2: Because the module is a step-down module. The maximum output voltage will be about 0.5V less than the input voltage.

Q3. Why can't the nominal ripple parameter be tested?
A3. First, a correct measurement method is required. Secondly, the linear power supply can only suppress the ripple noise of the input signal to a certain extent. If the input of a switching power supply is used, the linear power supply will not play much role when the noise is large, so the input of the linear power supply is generally rectified and filtered by the transformer. It is recommended to use a complete set of transformer rectification filter linear power supply solutions and this module.
