Arthur EM-1 Exposure Meter Darkroom Photography Light Meter Printed Light Meter For Photographer

Description:

Based on 15 years of darkroom experience and combined with international mainstream light meter circuit, it has been built after months of research and development.

Through light meter test, test strip is not needed when zooming in, which saves a lot of time and paper.

Please refer to the product manual for specific usage, and refer to the sticker on the back of the meter for exposure compensation. If you use a high-brightness amplifier, please close the aperture to f22 for light metering, such as a condensing enlarger for Seagull or Inclined-Bridge, and please ensure that developer solution is fresh.

The power switch is a cyclic type, press it to turn it on, and press it again to turn it off. Do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the corresponding devices.
- The metering knob is with limit point. After turning to the limit point, please do not continue to rotate forcefully, so as not to damage the corresponding device.
- The metering point sticker is made of a special light-transmitting material, please do not remove the sticker on this part, it will cause metering value to be inaccurate.
- Except for battery replacement and calibration operations, please do not disassemble or modify the circuit board. Internal components are precise, please operate properly.
- The light meter is not waterproof, please do not immerse it in liquid.
- During light metering and calibration, there must be no obstructions above the light metering point and no reflectors on the side.

How to Use?
1. Please adjust the size of the projection screen of your enlarger to the size of the photo to be printed, and make sure that the focus is clear;
2. Adjust the lens aperture of enlarger to the aperture size required for image printing;
3. Turn off other light sources, turn on the light meter, and place the light meter point of the light meter on the brightest part of the projection screen. For example, the area of the character's hair in the figure below, or the area under the character's left hand in the figure below. Keep the position of the metering spot unchanged, and observe the exposure indicator status. If yellow indicator light glows, it means underexposure. Please turn the metering knob clockwise until the green indicator light glows. If red indicator light glows, it means overexposure. Please turn the metering knob counterclockwise until green indicator light glows. Please adjust this process carefully, slowly turning the metering knob.
4. After the green indicator light glows, please check the exposure time corresponding to the pointer. This time is the measured exposure time in seconds.
5. Please adjust the timer of enlarger to the time measured just now, and enter the corresponding printing time for printing paper.

The light meter has been calibrated with normal contrast film. When you measure, if the contrast of the film used is normal, the measured value will be accurate. If a negative film has high contrast, please appropriately increase the exposure time based on the measured value. If a negative film has low contrast, please reduce the exposure time appropriately based on the measured value. Reason: The light meter is spot metering and cannot be used for evaluative metering. In addition, when you use different photographic papers and developing solutions, the measured value will be slightly different. If you want to get a perfect photo, refer to the measured value of the light meter and also combine your rich darkroom experience. At the same time, it is not recommended for photo printing within 5 seconds.

How to Calibrate?
In the case of normal film contrast, if you find that the light meter has a large deviation, you need to calibrate it:
1. Determine the accurate exposure time after testing the corresponding film, and keep the enlarger and lens parameters unchanged;
2. Open the back cover of the light meter with a screwdriver;
3. Point the pointer of the light meter to the correct time;
4. Locate the calibration potentiometer on the top of the circuit board, as shown in the figure below:

5. Turn off other light sources, place metering point at the brightest part of the projected image, and keep the position of metering point unchanged. Use a screwdriver to rotate the calibration potentiometer and adjust it carefully until it is green indicator is lit. Calibrate the limit point of potentiometer. After turning to the limit point, do not continue to rotate it forcefully to avoid damage to the corresponding device. After calibration, replace the back cover.

If it still fails to calibrate, please check whether the contrast of the film used is normal, or whether the enlarger and lens parameters have changed.

The above calibration operation requires a certain amount of hands-on ability. If you are not sure that you can handle the operation, please use a marker to change the position of the pointer line without opening the light meter.

Replace Battery:

When the light meter is used for a period of time, the measured value is inaccurate, or the indicator light is dim, please replace battery. Use a screwdriver to open the back cover of the light meter, carefully remove the former battery, and do not pull the wire directly. Replace with a new battery and put the back cover back.
