GeeDiy AK4493SEQ I2S/DSD DAC Board V4 Decoder Board (Semi-Finished Kit) 32bit 768KHz DSD64-DSD512
Version Introduction:
* Semi-Finished Kit: Includes the board and all components. SMD components are already soldered and tested. Through-hole components need to be soldered by the buyer.
* Finished Board: If the buyer does not have soldering skills, finished boards can be purchased. Finished boards are tested before shipping.
Description:
It is the 4th edition AK4493SEQ DAC decoder. The board uses official analog circuit parameters, resulting in a warm sound with high detail resolution and clarity. Its sound style is close to the AK4499EXEQ DAC.
It supports parallel mode (mono mode), where each board handles one channel. By default, it is in stereo mode, but it can be switched to mono mode via the board's K port.
VREF power supply is the soul of the DAC. Default configuration uses two LT1763 (one per channel with independent power supply). For users with higher requirements, you can contact customer service to upgrade to two LT3042 for an additional cost.
Features:
* It supports I²S/DSD decoding.
* Fully software-controlled (onboard MCU)! Independently designed to use I²S/DSD signal input.
* I²S supports up to 32-bit data and 768kHz sampling rate. Note: I²S requires I²S (for Philips format) data. Left-Justified (LJ) or Right-Justified (RJ/for Sony format) data are not supported.
* Also supports native DSD decoding (does not convert DSD to PCM; do not be misled!).
* Supported DSD sampling rates: 2.8MHz, 5.6MHz, 11.2MHz, 22.4MHz.
* The board includes a mute function. When paired with the Italian interface, it allows DSD track switching without noise.
* Supports software-controlled volume. Connect a 10kΩ single potentiometer to the VOL port to adjust volume. By default, if no potentiometer is connected, use a jumper cap for maximum volume.
Packing List:
* 1 × DAC Board (Semi-Finished Kit)
Packaging Details:
* Weight: 0.26kg
Detailed Measured Parameters:
The image below shows detailed measured parameters. Parameters may vary slightly under different test conditions and are for reference only. For detailed testing conditions, please consult customer service.
Detailed Function Introduction & K Port Function Introduction:
The K port functions work by controlling the MCU, which then software-controls the DAC chip.
1. Digital Filter Settings
Configured via K ports K1, K2, K3. As shown in the diagram below:
2. Mono Mode Settings
Configured via K port K4.
* K4 Open → Stereo mode (default)
* K4 Shorted → Mono mode
3. Left/Right Channel Selection in Mono Mode. Swap Channels in Stereo Mode
Configured via K5.
3.1. Mono mode:
* K5 Open → The board works in the left-channel mode.
* K5 Shorted → The board works in the right-channel mode.
3.2. Stereo mode:
* K5 Open → Normal mode
* K5 Shorted → Swap the left and right channels.
4. DSD Volumio Bypass Mode (Native DSD)
* Configured via K6.
* K6 Open → Normal mode; the board can control DSD volume.
* K6 Shorted → Volumio Bypass mode; in DSD mode, volume cannot be controlled, but DSD filter can still be adjusted.
5. DSD Sampling Rate Settings
* Configured via K7, K8, K9. Note: There are two modes for controlling DSD sampling rates, which are switched via K9.
* K9 Open → Mode 1
* K9 Shorted → Mode 2
* After changing K9, the board must be power-cycled to apply the new settings. The two modes are illustrated in the diagram below.
Mode 1 is the default mode. Mode 2 is used to work with the Italian interface (for Amanero) to enable automatic DSD sampling rate switching. When you are using Mode 2, K7 connects to pin 17 of the Italian interface and K8 connects to pin 18 of the Italian interface.
6. DSD Digital Filter Settings
Configured via KA
* KA Open → Low cutoff frequency
* KA Shorted → High cutoff frequency
7. Mute Settings
Configured via KB
* KB Open → Mute
* KB Shorted → Normal playback
Can also be controlled via an external mute signal
8. DSD/PCM Mode Switching
Controlled via the DSDON signal pin on the I²S input port
* High level → DSD mode
* Low level → PCM mode
I²S Interface Pin Definition:
1. DSDON
2. GND
3. DATA/DSDL
4. BCK/DCLK
5. MCLK
6. LRCK/DSDR
Electrical Characteristics:
* PCB Dimensions: 12.2cm × 10cm
* DAC Board Power Supply: Analog op-amps powered by DC ±15V (Note: Use 3 separate power wires for DC ±15V. Connecting AC or wiring incorrectly can cause permanent damage to the circuit), and other three single-supply groups use AC 9V or DC 12V (AC or DC can be used, DC is recommended for better performance. The three ports can share a single DC 12V power supply).
Attention:
* The board's volume control (VOL port) uses a potentiometer, but it does not directly control the analog volume. Instead, the MCU reads the voltage ratio (percentage of the voltage between VCC and GND) from the potentiometer wiper. The MCU then software-controls the DAC's internal register to adjust the volume. Therefore, the potentiometer only needs good electrical contact, and its quality does not affect sound quality.
* Due to instability in the electronic components market, some components may be out of stock and replaced with other brands, but we guarantee that this will not affect the board's performance. Please do not purchase if this is a concern.
* This product does not provide schematics or other files; only the interface definitions are provided (as described in the documentation or labeled on the board).
