M5Stack TMOS PIR High Sensitivity Infrared Sensor Unit STHS34PF80 for Presence and Motion Detection

Description:

- TMOS PIR Unit is a high-sensitivity infrared sensor unit for presence and motion detection. It uses the STHS34PF80 chip solution. It communicates with M5 devices through I2C (default address: 0x5A). Its working principle is based on the black-body radiation principle described by Planck's law, which allows it to monitor ambient temperature and detect human presence and motion. The sensor can distinguish between stationary and moving objects and has an 80-degree field of view, providing a wide detection range. Additionally, it supports adjustable sampling frequency and gain modes to meet different application needs. It is suitable for applications such as alarm systems, smart lighting, and occupancy detection.

Note:
1. Set the TMOS gain mode:
- Default gain mode: High sensitivity, but it may cause sensor saturation. Saturation can lead to delayed updates of the motion/presence detection flag.
- Wide mode: Shorter detection distance, but avoids sensor saturation.
2. Sensitivity to temperature differences: The output signal of the TMOS sensor is very sensitive to the temperature difference between the sensor's own ambient temperature and the ambient temperature of the measurement room. This temperature difference can affect the sensor's measurement.
3. Power-down mode settings: When the device is in power-down mode, the register resets to its default value each time the device is started or restarted. Calibration temperature needs to be reset. Therefore, if the application requires covering a wide operating temperature range and the temperature difference between the room and the sensor's thermal coupling environment, the user needs to set the wide mode when the device starts.
