General Purpose DMM 4-Wire Shorting Plug DIY 34172B with 19.05mm Pitch for 6½-Digit Multimeters

Description:
The DIY 34172B 4-Wire Shorting Plug features a custom 3D-printed housing and provides the same functionality as the original 34172B for KEYSIGHT. It is designed for zero-point calibration of high-precision multimeters from both domestic and international brands. Before calibration of voltage, current, or resistance, engineers use this 4-wire shorting plug to connect to a 6½-digit multimeter to calibrate the zero reference point.

It has five pins. This design is a foolproof (anti-reversal) mechanism that allows for easy calibration without worrying about insertion direction. In contrast, standard four-wire shorting plugs only have four pins and no foolproof feature, making them easy to insert incorrectly.

The PCB of this 34172B shorting plug uses double-sided 2U gold immersion. Both sides are routed to reduce the impedance between the two terminals. The five banana plugs are made of gold-plated brass, custom-ordered from a professional manufacturer of high-end audio connectors. These banana plugs are of excellent quality and not standard off-the-shelf products.
