- Cynthion is an all-in-one tool for building, testing, monitoring, and experimenting with USB devices. Its digital hardware is built around a unique architecture for FPGA that can be fully customized to suit current applications. Therefore, it can serve as a full-fledged high-speed USB protocol analyzer, USB hacking multifunctional tool, or USB development platform.
- Cynthion is a fully reconfigurable testing instrument that provides all the hardware, gateway software, firmware, and software required to use and master USB.
- Three high-speed USB interfaces, each connected to a USB3343 PHY capable of running at speeds up to 480Mbps.
- Two USB Type-C connectors for device mode communication (left).
- One USB Type-C connector for host mode communication, device mode communication, or USB analysis (right).

Applications:
- Protocol analysis of low-speed, full speed, and high-speed USB. Cynthion provides everything needed for passive USB monitoring. By adding analysis software, you have a fully functional USB analyzer that can passively acquire USB traffic and up to 16 related digital signals.
- Create your own low-speed, full speed, or high-speed USB devices. LUNA provides gateway software for Amaranth, which allows the creation of USB devices in gateway software, firmware, or a combination of both. Using for Facedancer library, it is possible to create or simulate real USB devices in advanced Python.
- Man in the middle (MitM) attack against USB communication. The Cynthion hardware can act as a 'USB proxy', transparently modifying the flow of USB data between the host and device. The three USB Type-C connections on each board allow for simultaneous high-speed proxy while maintaining a high-speed connection with the host. Therefore, proxy connections can be made with or without the help of a host PC.
- USB reverse engineering and security research. The Cynthion hardware and LUNA gateway software represent dedicated backends for research tools for Facedance and USB fuzz libraries, simplifying simulation and rapid prototyping of compatible and incompatible USB devices.
