Description:
- JTAG-HS2 programming wire is a high-speed programming solution designed for FPGA. The wire is fully compatible with all tools and can be driven seamlessly by software for iMPACT, ChipScope and EDK. The JTAG-HS2 programming wire can be connected to the target board in the following two ways:
For Digilent's 6-pin, 100mm spacing programming connector.
For 2X7, 2mm connector with attached adapter.
- The PC powers the JTAG-HS2 through a USB port. When the JTAG-HS2 is connected to a PC, the PC will automatically recognize it as a Digilent programming wire, even if the wire is not connected to the target board. JTAG-HS2 has a separate VDD pin to provide JTAG signal buffering. All JTAG signals use 24 ma high-speed tri-state buffers, supporting signal voltages from 1.8V to 5V and bus speeds of up to 30 megabits/SEC. To ensure proper operation, the VDD pin voltage of the JTAG-HS2 must be consistent with the voltage driving the JTAG port on the FPGA.
- When a JTAG signal is available at high electrical impedance, the JTAG bus can be shared with other devices (unless the JTAG bus is actively driven during programming). The JTAG-HS2 product comes with A Type-A to micro-USB cable that can be connected to the module end on the opposite side of the motherboard connector to ensure that the small and light JTAG-HS2 can be securely connected to the motherboard connector.
Precaution:
- Due to the built-in functionality of this module on all Digilent FPGA development boards, it is not necessary for Digilent FPGA development boards to use this module.
