HamGeek JTAG Interface Original Board Automatic Identification of Hardware Pins for JTAGulator

Overview:

On-Chip Debugging (OCD, On-Chip Debugging) interface can provide chip-level control of the target device, and is the main way for engineers, researchers, and hackers to extract program firmware code or data, modify memory content, or change device operations. If you are familiar with hardware circuits or embedded systems, then you must know that JTAG (Joint Test Action Group) and UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) can be said to be the most used serial communication interfaces.

Features:

- Supported target interface: JTAG/IEEE 1149.1, for ARM SWD, UART/asynchronous serial
- Support direction connection for SigRok and OpenODC
- 24 I/O channels with input protection circuit
- Adjustable target voltage for level conversion: 1.2V ~ 3.3V
- USB interface, used to connect to a computer for control
- Dimensions: 57.2 x 152.5 x 16mm/2.3 x 6 x 0.6"

Package Included:

- 1 x Original Board for JTAGulator
- 1 x MiniUSB Data Cable

The JTAG specification does not have a standard interface definition, so you can see 4-20pin JTAG headers on various PCB hardware, and the function definition of each pin cannot be determined. This causes a lot of trouble for debugging. The figure lists 4 interface definitions, including the definition for ARM, the definition for ST, and so on.

How do you know the pin definition? The traditional approach is to do signal analysis through a logic analyzer, but this is time-consuming, laborious and error-prone.

So equipment that automatically recognizes the JTAG interface was born, such as for JTAGulator, JTAGenum, JTAG Finder, JTAG Pinout Tool, and so on. At present, it is the best one to use.

Board for JTAGulator is an open source hardware tool that can be used to identify the OCD connection of test points, vias or component pads on the target device, and then use the programmer to wire and read the program firmware.
